Louis D. Solly, CFP

Lou is a licensed Certified Financial Planner® practitioner with nearly thirty years of experience in providing personal financial planning.  Lou has a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and his love for teaching has continued throughout his personal and professional life.  He has taught numerous CFP® candidates as an adjunct faculty member of the College for Financial Planning.  Lou has developed and conducted financial planning seminars and workshops for various businesses and community organizations. In his financial planning consultations, he aims to ensure his clients leave each meeting with more knowledge and an improved ability to make financial decisions to improve their lives.

As a Planner and Analyst for American Express Financial Advisors, Lou provided expert advice and training to hundreds of advisors throughout the Northwest, earning that firm’s coveted Premier Performer award for outstanding service.  In 1997, he established his own independent financial planning practice.  Lou began his firm with the strong belief that the success of a Financial Advisor should be based on the success of his clients, not on the number or type of products a client purchases.  In response to client demands, Lou expanded his practice to include fee-based investment management, helping clients reach their goals with a balanced portfolio specifically designed to match each client’s goals and tolerance for risk.

Lou’s professional affiliations have included the Financial Planning Association and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors.  Lou was selected by the Consumers’ Research Council of America as one of “America’s Best Financial Planners” for 2005-2006.

Lou is active in the community.  He is an Eagle Scout and a member of the National Eagle Scout Association.  He has been a Vice-Chair and Director of the North Clackamas County Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the President’s Award in 2001 for his work on the Chamber’s Strategic Planning Task Force.  Current volunteer activities include teaching Composting Workshops through Clark County’s Master Composter/Recycler program and doing trail maintenance with the Washington Trails Association and the Pacific Crest Trail Association.

Lou and his wife, Amy, currently live in Camas, Washington.  During his free time, Lou enjoys spending time with his family, brewing beer, gardening (including growing hops for his beer), camping, and backpacking.

Lou is excited to bring his knowledge and experience back to Security First Advisors, a progressive firm that is dedicated to fulfilling their fiduciary duty to put the needs of clients first.
